When he stops feeding his residents.
Not really any other outcome will change his gravy train.

He’s taking care of the undesirables (in the government’s eyes). He warehouses people for the government for probably around $180/day. If his buildings close, it’s an enormous headache. And the buildings they would be moved to wouldn’t be substantially different. And if another owner comes in, you’ll have a difference of degree in treatment.

I watched the story on Fox8 yesterday and I was just in f*cking amazement. All of these "concerned relatives" crying about what happened to the "loved ones" just made me sick to my f*cking stomach.

If there is a Category 3-5 storm in the Gulf, who in the ever living f*ck would put the safety of their "loved one" in the hands of a bunch of minimum wage workers?

It is YOUR f*cking responsibility to go get your mother or father out of the nursing home and make sure that they are taken out of harm's way. These nursing home workers have their own f*cking families to worry about and they don't have time to take care of yours.

YOU get off your f*cking a$$ and transport them to a safer facility. Or, better yet, take them with you to where you evacuate. When the storm goes through, then YOU take them back to a place that is safe.

And, NO, I don't work in a nursing home, I don't have any relatives who work in nursing homes, I don't know anyone who owns a nursing home, and I certainly don't have any investments in nursing homes.

I just can't for the life of me figure out why anyone thinks that it is anyone else's responsibility to care for someone else's loved one during a natural disaster.

In ALL fairness, some of these residents require care that can't be given by family members. Not all but there are some. I know from our facility in New Iberia, a resident or two went home with family for a few days and then came back when things were better.

Some just literally can't with the conditions of their relatives .. and yes, some are just assholes keeping their family members alive for "the check" (heard this said with my own ears).

One other thing ... some of our residents don't have family nearby ... OR they don't have family at all. Both are real situations.

Then it should be up to the FAMILY to arrange for (or provide themselves) the relocation to a facility that can care for their relative.

Probably not that simple. Nursing home care is inpatient care. It is the nursing home’s responsibility. Yes. You could take memaw out of the home and then transport her to... where? What if she’s non-ambulatory? On oxygen? You don’t get to take her oxygen equipment out of the nursing home.

You are pointing to a larger problem which is at the root of all of this. And if anyone thinks government healthcare works, go tour a facility that has Medicaid beds available for long-term care.

Where I consult is a good bit Medicaid ... a couple of private pay. I'd like to think that our residents are well taken care of but not all facilities have employees who care. We've got employees that have been there 20 or more years. We've got residents who won't eat unless a certain CNA feeds them adn yes, those CNAs often come on their day off to feed "their" residents.

I just don't think they can all be lumped together.

Nursing home owners are scum and there’s nothing else to it. They have been ripping this state off for decades. They prevent home healthcare from being widely used because of their powerful lobby and multiple legislators who actually own nursing homes voting for more money to themselves. They get paid whether beds are empty or full.

This is a failure of the government and greed of the nursing homeowners that’s comes at the expense of excessive taxes and suffering and death of the elderly.

Bob Dean should be charged with negligent homicide and the state shouldn’t give that greedy piece of shite another dollar. He should be in jail.

The state pays these workers to look after these people. It’s their job.
