Anecdotal but three days ago I sat with my great-nephew, who is mixed race and just turned 18, and his black friend, who will not turn 18 until December.

Neither will vote but hang out with people who are voting. When I asked who they would vote for they did not hesitate to say Trump and laughed at the thought of Biden. “No way,” they said. “That dude just ain’t got it.”

Young black men, I think, respect strength and confidence. They know and sense weakness. Take it for whatever it’s worth but it encouraged me.

So of that 5% total, trump recvd 13% of Black Male vote in 2016. So if he gets ~25% in 2020, that gives him an additional 0.7% popular vote for the country, but would be much larger than that in many swing states, i.e. MI, OH, NC, and FL.

The percentages only matters if their turnout is equivalent to voter turnout increases from "16 to '17.

IF the 5% to 7% number is correct (I have my doubts and it's not the correct way to break down the 12% figure) This means black males are being outvoted by black females by margin of 58% to 42%...a huge disparity in turnout and almost eliminates the advantage with black males even if that number doesn't change much with black females.
