Rand should totally put it on his platform
Did you know that Rand ran for the Senate on a pledge of cutting off all foreign aid, or that he's one of only two Republican Senators who opposed the Iran War resolution, or that he was only one of four Republican Senators who voted to confirm Chuck Hagel to Secretary of Defense?
Back in 2008, Obama said something in one of the debates that resonated with me:
"I Want To End Mindset That Got Us Into War In The First Place"
When Obama made that phone call to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, it was the first time he began to live up to that promise. I believe that Rand Paul is much more likely than Hillary Clinton to continue to change that mindset. Hillary represents the status quo with regards to American imperialism and militarism.

I'm not saying there aren't weapons programs and such that we can do without, but what we spend in terms of how we maintain our worldwide power projection matters to maintain American primacy. The alternative is to cede that primacy to China, Russia. Forgive me if I prefer a world driven by American values backed up with military power.

I think you are mistaken to believe that we need to spend this kind of money to maintain primacy.

Why is imposing "American values" on others so important to you?

Economic projection is the matter requisite to maintaining American primacy

Because I prefer American values to Russian values or Chinese values shaping the world.
Someone will always lead. I prefer it to be us.

Basically you want to impose our values on others and sovereign lands without their consent.
shite like that is a good reason why the world hates us and why our wars in the Mideast was a colossal failure.
Hell, it caused 9/11.

they GREATLY overestimate the ability of the President to control events halfway around the world.
this is most people on nearly all policies b/c of recent presidents,' sometimes unconstitutional, use of executive powers

That's part of it
Well, whatever "part of it" economics plays, DC nitwits who are running a tab on our kids' credit card are putting that 'part' at substantial risk.
