Ukraine has hit targets several times over the past year in Crimea with Storm Shadows supplied by GB and/or the French equivalent. The Storm Shadow missile is what Putin is talking about.

Some of this is on Putin. He’s created so many “red lines” and has not backed any of his talk up. Which has only encouraged Z Man and NATO to up the ante.
At some point there will likely be a major Russian response. “Escalate to deescalate” philosophy. What that looks like is anyone’s guess. My guess is a decapitation strike of Ukraine’s senior leadership

The vast majority of Americans didn't want Ukraine to have any long range weapons. Only defensive weapons.

Are you being serious? Crimea has been a battlefield since 2014. and the Russians have made it clear no US missiles will be allowed to strike Pre-2014 Russian territory.

Putin isn’t on a death march. Even though we keep poking the bear, he’s not going to get involved with a full on war with NATO. That doesn’t seem to be his game here. Unfortunately, we’ll keep making terrible decisions and prodding him further, until after the election.
