Trump's stated goal is no tariffs but his chosen path to getting there is to try and demonstrate to other nations why they suck.

So many people can't see the end result yet. The goal is to have a FREE trade with other countries and not have our goods taxed out of competition. These high tariffs will go away when the other countries play fair.
