A bill proposed by a Republican state lawmaker in Missouri would require a woman seeking an abortion to obtain notarized consent from the baby's father,

I'm suggesting that no one gets to tell you...what you get to do with your body.
Right, so you should be able to sell your organs since it is your body....I know some people can go along with that. However what if you have certain medical conditions that can be passed to the organ recipients? Should the government force you to disclose this? Should the government disallow you from selling tainted organs period? I mean it is your body and your privacy after all right? Can't possibly affect others can it?

I love when idiots put these "Gotcha!" points forward and actually think they're legitimate.

So please answer me this....what is your definition of "pregnancy"? Does one have to be with child to be pregnant? Or if one is with some random mass fetus does that qualify in your vernacular as pregnant?

Well I am not going to resort to name calling because that shows you are rather void of valid retorts but my post was not a "gotcha" point. Either there are some cases where there are more considerations than the blanket "oh it's your body, you can do whatever with it" or not...I am very big on limited government and personal freedoms but there has to be some rationale applied in some instances.

That's not my point at all. My point is how do you respond to the correlation that crime rates have significantly dropped ever since Roe Vs Wade? How do you respond to the fact that there are less people around trying to kill your own kids? Ever thought there may be a correlation there?

Then maybe we are missing each other in this exchange because I was simply responding to asurob1's assertion that nobody else at any point in time should be able to dictate what you do with your own body.
I could point out the recent example of the ebola scare. If I had ebola in asurob1's world, the government shouldn't be able to force me to do a damn thing with my body and that includes staying in some sort of isolation. Somewhere the line has to be drawn when others are drug into danger or their rights usurped.
Going to your point on crime and such, the stats might point out your assertion but by the same token, what brilliant minds have been snuffed out? These minds could have come up with cures for many nasty diseases and saved exponential amounts of lives as opposed to these future killers you reference...just sayin...

I'll support this. Better than all out abortion.

I'm not reading all of this, but I can very safely say that this guy is an idiot and he has no business representing Americans, except that there are enough stupid Americans that voted for him.

Blanket statement. Which crimes are you referring to? Homocide? Rape? And how does one attribute the lowered crime rates to RvW instead of stepped up policing or social responsibility?

No one, should be able to tell you what to do with your body...from abortion to drugs.

If abortion is legal, men should be able to abort their responsibilities for child support.

It bothers me when people marginalize what this is as simply a "religious issue". It is about when life begins. I am pro life not bc the bible says so. I am pro life bc i believe a tiny human being who cannot protect his or herself is being killed.
Ditto
I'm not religious in the least bit, but I find abortion to be horrific. One of the greatest atrocities of the modern age. Five hundred years from now historians will look back at our policies and cringe at the eugenics and the basic lack of regard for human rights (which, in that age, probably will extend to something like a week or less after conception).

Sorry, little boy. That isn't how it works. If you don't like that, then that's too bad.

Try every crime. And it's a fact that it started around that time, and that cops have gotten out of control since they no longer have as much crime to fight.

Pretty good, thanks for asking...

Again, you toss this statement out as if there should be no rules nor legislating of what one does with their own body. This is a common argument pro-choicers use in defense of their stance. It becomes a necessarily different story however when these actions of bodily freedom spill over into others' realms and encroach on their freedoms/basic rights. Thus we can't just do anything we want with our own bodies because our actions don't always happen in a vacuum. Lines must be drawn eventually by a governing entity so this notion of absolute freedom with one's body simply doesn't hold water.

I mean, an organ market (which would for the most part be a kidney/liver market) isn't exactly some fringe idea. Multiple Nobel economists have endorsed it. I heard it seriously debated on fricking NPR a few months ago.
