Former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot has emerged as the principal challenger to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel's upcoming general election on October 27, 2026.
The Main Challenger: Gadi Eisenkot Party: He leads the newly formed, centrist Yashar (Hebrew for "Straight" or "Upright") party.
Polling Status: Recent mainstream polls show Yashar running neck-and-neck with Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party, with Eisenkot slightly leading Netanyahu in personal suitability ratings for prime minister. Background: As a retired general who lost a son and two nephews in the Gaza war, Eisenkot commands deep security credentials that appeal to centrist and "soft right" voters looking for a change in leadership.
Other Key Contenders While Eisenkot is currently the opposition frontrunner, other notable figures are challenging Netanyahu from the anti-Netanyahu bloc:Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid:
The two former prime ministers have formed a joint opposition alliance called B'Yachad ("Together").Electoral Position: B'Yachad is currently polling second behind Eisenkot's Yashar party within the opposition bloc.
The Coalition Deadlock
Despite Eisenkot’s surge, neither Netanyahu’s right-wing bloc nor the opposition bloc has secured the definitive 61-seat Knesset majority needed to easily form a government. The ultimate outcome may depend on whether the opposition decides to form a coalition with Arab-majority political parties like Ra'am

Jumping headlong into war on their behalf: Amazing Idea.
Discussing their elections: Potentially inappropriate.

Trump needs to realize the under 30 conservative crowd is very anti BiBi and he should simply stay away from this.
The over 45 crowd won’t leave him for not endorsing him.
He really only stands to lose by making an endorsement
