I am not defending Trump's misdirectional quotes relative to Putin. Could they be more clear and less contradictory? Sure.
The whole implied theory pushed with Trump, Putin and Russia has to do with painting the picture that Trump is somehow a front man or in cahoots with Putin and that Trump will do things that are in Russia's best interest and not ours. Those are serious allegations and there is no direct evidence of the existence of such a relationship. At least the left wing MSM with all its resources hasn't surfaced it.
The left thinks they are onto something here and in the end, like HRC's candidacy, it will be proven to be fools gold. At one time, people were pimping the theory that Trump was a front for HRC's candidacy. In the end, that was sheer lunacy and I think the Trump and Russia theory will meet a similar end.
Admittedly, Trump hasn't helped himself with the quotes, but do you honestly believe that Trump is some form of front man for Russia? I will grant you that the comments are contradictory, but what exactly are you trying to allege or are you befuddled by the simple thought that politicians (especially a novice one) speak in contradictory terms?

Terror needs a very good description. I say that because you there is a group in our government that is a bunch of dual citizens that are chaos makers of our country.
