Ever heard of law enforcement task forces? There are countless regional and statewide (and beyond) task forces composed of local, state and federal agencies/officials, for all kinds of purposes. State/local and federal law enforcement agencies cooperating and coordinating and collaborating is far from a new or uncommon practice.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but to the question of whether they should be assisting - IMO they definitely should be.
