I think most would agree with you but a lot of people can’t afford even a starter home now. Corporations like BlackRock have been creating artificial scarcity with the housing market.
We need affordable housing across our country. It doesn’t need to be implemented in a socialist way but the millennials, gen z, and generation alpha need houses or our country’s birth rate will stagnate and the corporations will continue greasing palms to let the third world workers in en masse for labor.

So what your saying is there is nothing wrong with the system.
Scale back regulations and the market will fix itself.
Regulations are barriers to entry for the little guy, BigCorp can afford them.

Urban planning has a lot to do with this.
The current scheme is artificial scarcity to continually raise prices to protect and inflate property values.

JFK had the right idea.
Posted below are pictures of the front and the back of a United States Note printed in 1963 while JFK was president…
President John F. Kennedy issued Executive Order 11110
Notice that there is a red seal instead of a green seal on the front, and it says "United States Note" rather than "Federal Reserve Note".
Info at link.

If you want to see what populism does to a State, all that you have to do is take a look at Louisiana.
Indeed. The Ghost of Huey Long still haunts the state
All you need is dumb people and a loudmouth demagogue and you have a movement.

Heh, this state birthed one of the biggest political carnival barkers ever:
Every man a king! Meanwhile the Long family benefited for a while and Louisiana is 50th in everything.

So my question is, should we even judge our system on the basis of how well it's people are doing?
No. If you're going to simplify it down to a soundbite we should judge it based on the opportunities it presents, not outcomes.

Which is why gen Z and gen alpha are completely disillusioned with our nation right now. There’s going to be a push towards authoritarian right on the political compass within a large sect of these generations and it has to be capitalized by our movement.
No one believes in the American Dream right now. They have eyes and they see their tax dollars being used to bring in millions of illegals and to indoctrinate children in public schools.
The iron is hot and is going to get even hotter. The time to strike is now and it’s not with anyone who is going to coddle up with big corporations, big pharma, etc.

Indeed.
There is ample opportunity in this nation for everyone to "succeed."
Its on the individual to accept it or not.

If we don't start noticing that decent middle class people can't achieve the American dream then we will get authoritarianism controlled by mega corporations... otherwise known as Fascism.
Populism will save capitalism by reining in an out of control system that is driving up prices and killing the working man.
Let's see what these smart asses are saying in five years.

We haven't had a free market economy in at least 3 decades maybe more. 2008 is a great example of this. 2020 was another reminder of this.

They can't achieve it, or they can't achieve it after taking a gap year in Europe and making lots of fun choices for education and where they want to live?
I have 3 kids, all under 30. 2 have homes, the last one is looking right now. They don't have credit card debt and live within their means.

This is untrue.

My two do.
They couldnt afford to live in LA or San Fran, but in Middle America they have a good life.

All you have to freakin do is look at family income distribution and compare it to things like avg home mortgage and cost of an automobile. Throw in cost of health care insurance. Add groceries, daycare. Oh and don't forget savings for a decent retirement, life insurance, maybe an occasional vacation, new clothes, and and on and on
It's not hard. Stop living in your tiny little world with your anecdotes and your bootstrap mythology and look at the medium income of 75k for families and explain to me how people get anywhere.
