It wasn't the two-day blip. Too cucked out to argue about HC atm tbqh

I want to see consistency. We need to have policy stability in D.C. I was hoping we would get that. If we don't get some measure of that in tax reform this spring/summer, I'll jump ship on life and probably quit looking at this board. The rush derived from 20:1 arguments with the trumpkin crew sprinkled in with some shitposting can only sustain me so much. I don't care all that much about the rest of the circus like wiretaps and Russians, and this board will look much like it did before '16, just with more morons.

I suggest bumping up the shitposting ratio because this is going to be a target-rich environment if they manage to frick up tax cuts of all things

Chances we end up with single payer before Trump leaves office?

Under any other president I think that could actually start a war… but a lot of Trumpkins would be on board with their alpha.

The act failed where the ACA fails. Little to no competition. You'll never have affordable care without opening the market for more competition.

This is a very important part of the article.

Say what you want about this bill but if a partnership with between President Trump and Speaker Ryan is going to work, this is a problem they need to fix through better coordination through not just themselves but their respective comms and strategic teams as well.

The policy standpoint demanded that, under reconciliation, Ryan could not offer that sort of deregulation in the direct replacement (e.g., interstate competition).

The OP is spot on. The legislation was problematic. No question about it. But the problems were secondary to reconciliation constraint. They were not due to a desire to create "obamacare lite". In current circumstance residual obamacare weaknesses were unavoidable.

Rollout should have emphasized that the ACHA was never intended as a final step. It was simply the only available first step.

Ryan is an awful salesman. As I've said, in the end, this was an issue of narrative. Ryan muffed it. AARP was running commercials claiming the ACHA intended to tax the "elderly" $8400/yr. Lies like that should have never been practical given an appropriate rollout.

shite bill.

shite rollout.

Cases of turd polish couldn't save it.

Trump was flexible, Ryan was not.

Trump tried to sell HFC members on Ryan's plan, when Ryan and House leadership should be the ones doing that.

Part if me is glad it failed, but the optics are terrible.

To a billionaire, everything is "little shite." To real people, with real wages, in a real world, the," little shite" means a lot.

Does Trump really believe this is going to happen? I see no possible sceanario where the dems come begging for help to solve the health-care crisis and run the risk of making him look good.

The dems will let the country burn down before they will go to Trump for any help.

Another flawed plan, if Trump is truly serious about it.

He should just build a wall, something that he is good at doing, and kill some ISIS bastards and let the legislative branch worry about the rest.

I read all this shite about trump this and trump that and how embarrassing he is.

Meanwhile the other party is lead by pelosi and schumer

Well actually pelosi does not have an answer regarding who leads it.

There is only one half of the political spectrum actually working on problem solving

Everybody here knows Pelosi and Schumer are terrible.

But that's quite a deflection. You've learned well from the Pelosi's of the world.

Yep. As tough of a time they had with the healthcare bill, tax reform will be infinitely more difficult. The tax code is littered with special interest credits and deductions, especially on the corporate side.

Oddly Democrats didn't consider that when they passed a bill no one had even bothered to read.

As a tax payer, this is the part that still appalls me.

Watching Dems today celebrate and mock a group that is trying to fix the mess they created just pisses me off even more. The part that makes me feel even worse is that over a decade ago I voted for several of the Dems that made this happen.

Crack jokes on Pelosi all you want, but she was a very effective Speaker of the House when it came to whipping Dems and getting them on the same page.

The lobbyists told them don't waste their time reading it, just pass it if they want campaign donations
