Have 24 hr. news networks and other media outlets turned politicians into celebrities akin to rock stars or pro wrestlers?

Do you miss the days when you had no idea who the governor of some far away state was or couldn't name a half-dozen congress members from the mid-west? Does it make you angry when such folks garner multi-million dollar book deals or television series?

It's not terribly far-off to imagine "DEMOCRATS" and "REPUBLICANS" painted in opposing end-zones at the Super Bowl, these days. There are certainly "good guys" and "heels" like in the wrestling business. Who's which just depends on which side you're on. And you will pick a side...

I'll bet more folks know Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez than Greta Van Fleet, today. Something's amiss...

Rip off Zeppelin and won’t even credit them as an influence. That’s really shitty.

Agreed 1000%. I have been saying this for years. The media attention has fed their egos such that they truly think they are rock stars or the most important people on the plant. I get disgusted every time I see Pelosi, or Schumer, or Paul Ryan, etc. Both parties are just a bad.

Yep, and social media has only made it worse.

Just the idea of "The Squad" is ridiculous and should have voters wondering whose best interest these politicians are looking-out for. So many of them are only concerned with advancing their personal brands.

If politicians did what we elected them to do efficiently and with best intents, they'd be anonymous, not celebrities.

It is a huge problem since the politicians that are better at marketing themselves are being pushed to the top. Same as many industries where the marketing people get put into decision making positions because they have the most success even though they know very little about how to make the product good.

The politicians with good ideas don't get as much coverage because they don't market themselves as well and the ones that know how to sell themselves get elected even though they are terrible at governing.

This results in the poor leadership we have today since the people in the highest positions are those with good PR skills instead of good administrative skills.

Politicians have been egomaniacs forever. A well informed citizenry is a good thing. Unfortunately, most media outlets just pump out propaganda.
