Politicians are the modern version of Pharisees

Luke 11:46
Then he said: “Woe also to you experts in the law! You load people with burdens that are hard to carry, and yet you yourselves don’t touch these burdens with one of your fingers.

Matthew 23:5-6

They do all their deeds to be seen by others.
6 and they love the place of honor at feasts and the best seats in the synagogue

Our modern day politicians are similar to the Pharisees of Jesus’ day.
They loaded the citizens with laws and regulations they exempted themselves from observing.
Jesus hated their hypocrisy more than almost anything else.

American progressivism is just Puritanism without Biblical restraints.

To be fair, I don't think it's a modern thing. Politicians have always been that way.

He’s literally saying it’s been around for thousands of years. Not sure why you felt the need to say that.

See, in particular, Nancy Pelosi and Mitt Romney...the two most prominent who actually pray loudly for show.

Just as Christ warned of.

Jesus hated the Pharisees and would no doubt feel the same way about politicians.
They proudly call out others for crimes that they themselves commit and then feign indignation.
Brood of vipers and hypocrites!

Funny you mention this. I watched the documentary about the Branch Davidians last night.

I was 13 or so when it went down, so my recollection was the official government narrative that it was a brain washed cult.

With the exception of having relations with underage girls (which occurs in the Bible), David Koresh was not that far off base interpreting the Bible against our modern world.

I don’t know what Koresh taught, but the government response was way over the top as usual.
Just like there was no need for armed agents to bust down Roger Stones door in the early morning hours and hold a gun to Stones wife!

Do you think the Founding Fathers were as self serving as modern politicians?

Jesus also spoke about Mittens being lukewarm fence sitting and fake.

Well, the Pharisees considered their 'Club' elitist, and limited to the Jews, lest I be misinformed.

Today's Progressive have little to no limitation on the exercise of their power, to shape the minds and culture of the whole World. In fact, they believe that if the World don't bow to their Egalitarian and Totalitarian Ideology...the World is lost, to their own devices. Moral supremacy and ambition, grand sanctimony, and given no Religious constraints...open ended license for 'whatever it takes'.

Dogfight!
