I once worked the same shift with a rookie patrol deputy that got surrounded on a DV call in a rough neighborhood. He locked himself in his patrol car and was screaming for backup

A normal Friday evening in the area surrounding Fair Park (where this incident took place) except for the crowd.
But that isn't too far away from DPD Headquarters. So a call for assistance is easily met.

Don't forget professional athletes... To me this is the answer.. Either it stops.. Or the cops will stop going into neighborhoods where they are threatened by a mob...
Crazy that the Dems and Libs want to defund the police, because it may get to the point that cops will have to start traveling in groups which means more payroll and expenses.

What's funny is that fair park has been a shithole since the 50s. It's literally the reason Texas Stadium was built. So this doesn't surprise me.
