At 5am, (love those pre-dawn raids by police don't we left) the police tried to serve a red flag order.
Caught the 61 year old off guard. They shot and killed him.
Here is the crutch of it. He was outspoken.

And what was the reason they were called. An argument over the care of an elderly family member:

about 1 million gun owners weapons
Caught the 61 year old off guard. They shot and killed him.
Here is the crutch of it. He was outspoken.
quote:
Willis, 61, answered his door in Ferndale with a gun in his hand, the Baltimore Sun reported on Nov. 5.
Willis put the gun down next to his door but then “became irate” when officers served him with the order. He then opened the door and picked up the gun, police told the newspaper.
During the struggle, the gun went off and didn’t hit anyone. The other officer then shot and killed Willis.
“Red flag” protective orders are known as emergency risk protection orders and are initiated by family members, police, or other individuals, the Sun noted. They are served to prohibit the subject’s access to firearms when they show signs that they’re a danger.
In this law, as with RI, and with what will be national:
quote:
“Under the law, family, police, mental health professionals can all ask for the protective orders to remove weapons,”
The niece:
quote:
Michele said he “likes to speak his mind,” but she described him as a harmless person. “I’m just dumbfounded right now,” she said. “My uncle wouldn’t hurt anybody.” “They didn’t need to do what they did,” she said of the officers.
And what was the reason they were called. An argument over the care of an elderly family member:
quote:
“Family members tell me there was a fight last night that centered around the care of an elderly family member that led them to contact police.

I said this the other day and was downvoted.
I would hate to be the guy trying to take these guns from folks who are already on edge and potentially threatening themselves or others.
Lots of cops and civilians will be killed serving these warrants for these guns.

Democrats are gonna send police in to take people's guns then blame the cops when it gets violent. They never take ownership for anything and I just see mass amounts of blame being thrown at everyone except for them in the future.

"No one is coming to take your guns"

Umm
Where did it say the man was threatening others?

The reason you get a red flag warrant is because you are perceived to be a danger to yourself or others.
Then the police have to come try to disarm you.
Then the police have to come try to disarm you.

Slam dunk civil rights violation imo and should get judgement for lawsuit money.

Again, where in the article did family members say he threatened or was a danger?
Point being it appears a red flag visit doesn’t require what you claim it does.

They protected and served his arse to death.
Which will, of course, rapidly increase with broader adoption of this Star Chamber, faux due process policy.

This law is ripe for abuse by family members who have an ax to grind with each other for any number of reasons. A lot of people will be “red flagged” out of spite.
The slippery slope is real.

That was a mistake by the gun owner for sure and it cost him his life. It doesn't make the law any more sane though.
You can bet a bunch of Waco's coming in the near future if this is enacted nation wide.

Also it will be interesting how liberals and the media react when POC’s start getting “red flagged” and end up shot by police in the process.
Two hot button issues for them on a collision course right there.

This is the mind set we are dealing with...
Thank you for your very uneducated voice

Perceived by who? And do you have a chance to defend yourself against the accusation before they come to take your firearm.

How many divorces every year? That's going to be 1 to 2 red flags every time.

Which is what we have been saying all along.

Not even just family members...
The twitter verse.
People post on twitter things that get their account locked and it's deemed hate. (even though it's not) ALL it takes is for a person to pick up the phone and say, "Vox Dawg seems to be out there. In fact his public statements got him banned on Twitter. He seems like he is about to explode and kill people"
You, me, or anybody else is at that point GUILTY. Your guns taken and you don't even get to be in the court room when they decide.

Were the officers wearing body cameras?
