I don't agree with this. IMO capitalism will determine whether a business should be "cashless" or not. Most of us don't use cash anyway when dining out or shopping so it doesn't affect us but for those that choose to use cash, they'll spend their money elsewhere if a biz is cashless.

Whatcha say?

I like to tip in cash, and waiters like it, so I'm sort of okay with it. I mean, it IS legal tender in the U.S.

This is more white knighting for minority/poor people in an effort to stop gentrification.

When I get paid I have to try hard to remember to get a $20 bill for the odd little things. Other than that I never have cash on me.

I bet there's some great old Italian places in South Philly that are still cash only.

Sort of on topic:

Mercedes Benz stadium is now cash free. Will be interesting considering the demos of the falcons crowds. It seemed to work fine for the United match yesterday

The words “Legal Tender for all debts, public and private” are pretty clear.

Not saying I agree with telling a shop owner how he/she should run their business though.

Every credit/debit card charge results in the business having to pay a third party a percentage. Requiring a person to use a card is bad business on both ends.

WRONG.

The statute is Section 31 U.S.C. 5103. There is, however, no Federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services.

However, state laws can regulate it. It's severe government overreach on free enterprise though.

Don't like it, don't do business there. Simple.

I'm fine with this as long as those that accept cash only are forced to accept credit cards, but we know that's far fetched.
