I can't argue those numbers.

Enjoyed the debate. Gotta head out to work my daughter's swim meet.

I'm willing to bet the majority of white people in this country had little to no generational wealth one generation ago.

ESPECIALLY in South Louisiana. My heritage is poor cajun farmers on my mother's side and lower middle class on my father's side. My grandfather finished 8th grade. The only "wealth" we have is the value we put in our strong nuclear family and our belief in education and hard work as the means to success in this country.

I say your breakdown is more like this:

65% - the lack of black nuclear families/out of wedlock births
5% - the remnants of institutional racism as you point out in your post
29% - Culture that deprioritizes education and glamorizes "thug life" rap culture
1% - other factors

The whole "slavery wasn't that bad because Africa sucks" argument isn't a good one.

Well, that's what an honest national dialogue on race would look like.

And it will never happen.

This doesn't have to do with BLM, but the biggest socialist/communist I know was raised in an upper class family in Texas. Had an allowance in college, drove a Lexus, had everything paid for.

Now he's fallen off the deep end for whatever reason. I think it's because he's transitioning into a woman tbh.

Most were bogus.

People don't complain when white people die.

The whole "not answering a simple question" response isn't a good one. And ... on the second question ... if America sucks so baldly now ... why aren't people leaving in droves for all the greener pastures?

Also ... two other things:

1) No one alive today put anyone into "subjugation"

2) How many of my fellow honkies on here come from or even remotely have now ... "generational wealth" ? I sure as hell didn't and don't. And... thanks to taxes ... probably never will achieve anything close to monetary "wealth" in my lifetime.

frick this notion that all American Caucasians were born with a silver spoon and just spent time goofing off and "terrorizing" black people until the trust fund became an option....at which time, it becomes 100% terrorizing, 100% of the time.

Black people have learned to try to avoid the cops ... for damn good reason ... just like white people have learned to try to avoid the hood.

i have a question do you believe that blacks are not racially profiled? Do you believe if any of the recent shootings the victims would have been white then the shootings wouldn't have happened?

I firmly believe we need to address the way that black people are treated by the police. I also believe that being white would have stopped 2/3rds of the police shootings that were brought to national attention last year.

That's possible. But if the black people who died had simply COMPLIED WITH THE POLICE they'd be alive. :dunno"

without first admitting this country was built on racism, and many stains of that racism are still present today.

Probably because some people take it to the extremes and tie modern failures into policy that died long ago.

Racism will always exist. It exists everywhere. I think it's possible to admit cultural failures without being racist though.

Sure, it is. The answers are obvious and don't require restating.

It's still a terrible argument

And I answered. Again people just not reading everything that is written and jumping to conclusions. If you would have read just a little further, you would get the gist.

BLM is based on division. It's exactly what it's supposed to do.

The biggest problem in this country for blacks is the culture they are raised in that they make. A clean cut black person gets a job over a ghetto white person any day of the week. its not about skin color it more about the culture that you grow up in.

Just to clarify the generational wealth point, I don't mean to imply every white person inherits a great sum of money, nor has access to vast wealth. I grew up relatively poor, and don't stand to inherit much, if anything, when my mom passes away. But I did have some extended family members that were able to help me out financially a few times in my life. A lot of black people my age(mid 40's) didn't have that. And certainly there were a lot of white people that didn't have that either. But even amongst my solidly white middle class circle of friends, almost all of them got financial help of some kind from family members - college paid for, large cash gift at college graduation, large cash wedding gift, bailed out of a financial bind, etc.

It would help your cause if 80% of violent crime weren't coming from 15% of the population...
