Hegseth shouldn't be allowed to control what can and cannot be reported. Thats a clear violation of the 1st amendment.

Wrong.

Hegseth is doing nothing more than enforcing rules in the Pentagon which are already in place in pretty much every other federal office building.

There's no violation of the First Amendment for requiring press members in the Pentagon to wear a security badge identifying them as press.

There's no violation of the First Amendment for requiring press members to not go into certain areas of the Pentagon.

There's no violation of the First Amendment for telling members of the press to stop asking for Classified information they aren't supposed to have in the first place.

The violation would be from attempting to prosecute a reporter for reporting on things, unless they violate the "clear and present danger" exception set forth in Schenck v. United States.

And they all left together at 4:00 PM. And they all gathered in the nearest nice establishment and talked about how braved they were. Many pats on each other's backs were had. Some hammered down too many bourbon on the rocks. They all hugged and went home. Today they rose and dressed and prepared to do more neat things.

I don't think it's the access or the badges that's the issue. It's that everything has to be approved before release.
