You think the GOP is going to risk being blamed for terror attacks due to a questionably supported war, in an election year?

Because if they kill FISA and a terror attack happens, they will be blamed for it.

Again, and I hate FISA, so I hope it dies, but I don't believe they are sincere at all

Well, if it's up to Thune, then I guess we're screwed.

What a worthless pile of shite he turned out to be.

It would be Thune and a few PoS Senators like him who would be raked over the coals for it. They will cave.

If it is ever really threatened, the intel agencies will take a few congressmen into a SCIF and their attitude will change. Mike Johnson did a 180 on FISA.

I don’t believe either party broadly wants to end FISA. Certain members sure. I think I’m mostly with SFP on this one sadly. Hope I’m wrong though.

It shouldn’t be needed either way. Voter ID is probably the highest polled support of anything in the county. Not being able to get that into law indicates something is wrong in the system

I don't disagree with you.

It's too risky to be the party who killed FISA if a terror attack happens.

I understand the skepticism, but that same threat (killing FISA during a war) can be levied on Thune right now over an issue that polls 90/10 in favor. Those Intel agencies Bunk speaks of should be taking Thune into a SCIF right now. It's on his head. Not the GOP of the House.

Only Section 702 of FISA is up for reauthorization.

Wait...what? That is not how this will work or be understood by voters.

I understand this is how you WANT them to see the issue, but the country will separate the two issues.

FISA would still exist. It would not be “killed”.

All filibusters should be standing. I understand this is a sword that can and will potentially cut both ways but it’s pretty unlikely we will ever see a full senate majority, especially if our elections aren’t cleaned up

This is an absolutely critical issue and if necessary they should do away with the filibuster to push it through. Thune is a fricking traitor.
