Democrats, OPEN THE SCHOOLS ( SAFELY), NOW! When schools are closed, let the money follow the child (FAMILY). Why should schools be paid when they are closed? They shouldn’t!

Well... hard to go against this argument...

Prepare the Karen's... "but, but the school teachers are heroes and we need to pay them even when they are not working"

There aren’t enough TikTok nurses to replace our e-learning hero teachers. We need to tread lightly here.

And all teachers who want to get laid on should get into the classroom.

I am ok with a compromise of a non-paid granted leave of absence with continued benefits. They should not be paid if not working.

I understand the concept, but it’s not the teachers’ decision not to be in the classroom. It’s the state/local government who sets the rules. And, that same state/local government signed contracts with the teachers.

It is in several school systems... teachers are allowed to opt out...

Generally with schoolboard and teacher input and even then, the districts were allowed to make the decision...

signed contracts with the teachers.

Are the teachers fulfilling their contracts when they are not teaching?

The state made these decisions after a massive push to remain closed by the teachers unions. The teachers didn’t want to work.

They’re not expected to fulfill their end of the contract?

Go and tell your boss you refuse to work, but expect to get paid and report back.

They can hide behind the local and state health depts, but if the union released a statement supporting online learning (like they have in many states) then the teachers are just as culpable.

I shite you not, my daughter's (no pics) high school is doing in school teaching, two days a week. The other days, the kids watch instructional videos from home. In other words, they aren't learning anything. Fortunately in Alabama, the decision is left up to the local school boards. Her school is going back to full time, starting next week. She's been back for about a month now, but some schools just started back on Tuesday. Ineptness at it's finest.

Here's a thought.

Are schools and churches being kept closed as they are often used as polling places?

Furthering the narrative of needing mail in voting?

I've homeschooled for 3 years and spend thousands on curriculum and supplies. It pisses me off that I'm still paying for the local schools that we don't use.

Considering the thousands of dollars spent per pupil, per year, we all have a right to be pissed about this! If they think watching videos from home is education, then we could do away with the bloated bureaucracy that is our education system and just do that.

Keep in mind, some school systems are funded upwards towards $10K/student. That's a very, very good private school tuition.

The social discontent is all thanks to our public school systems. They don't educate the kids. They don't care about education at all. They teach only to pass test for more money. Meanwhile, as funding goes up per student, test scores have consistently gone down. It's all a sham.

The decisions are actually being made by the school boards. The state and local governments are only providing guidance.
