Make no mistake. America has run the greatest empire in the history of the world for nearly the last 100 years.

You really have to contort the word "empire" to make it fit, especially since democracy and free trade are the hallmarks of Pax Americana.

What other empires let their former enemies and (imperially) subordinate trade partners create a directly competitive trade organization? I mean hell, not only did we let the EU form, we supported it.

search this forum for "Victoria Nuland" and "State Department Ukraine 2014"

you will find the answer

A response to Russia installing a puppet and pushing too far and creating a civil war in Ukraine probably isn't the best example to cite to deflect away from Russian aggression in Ukraine

I have a question about this. Crimea was taken over by Russia under the Obama admin. Obama let it slide. I was on Obama's side on this. Ukraine was not a great host for those people who spoke Russian and identified as Russians, ethnically. Ukraine actually banned their language. Ain't that some shite.

Could some of that still be in play in eastern Ukraine?

This talking point gets a lot of play. The law did not ban the Russian language, it required public sector employees to conduct business in Ukrainian. Privately, or private sector employees were not affected. This isn't too dissimilar to attempts to make English the official language of the United states, a position espoused by many here in the US who ironically point to it as a negative in Ukraine.

History though is important. The reason nobody really complained much about Crimea was due to the fact that up until there 50s it was Russian and was gifted by Khrushchev to then Ukraine Soviet state. It remains to this day primarily populated by Russian speaking people as after the end of WW2 stalin forcibly migrated most of the ethnic Tatars who inhabited the region. Donetsk and Luhansk had also been primarily Ukrainian in that timeframe but a combination of forced relocations, the holodomor, and and increased need for workers in the east brought in many ethnic Russians (by 2014 it was pretty much 50/50 in those regions).

After the uprisings most of the ethnic Ukrainians fled these areas.

Until Trump pulled the curtains back I seriously thought we were the good guys. Now I’m not even sure if bad is a strong enough adjective.

It won't. Once Trump bent the knee to Putin, the Cult followed predictably.

"he said he didn't try to influence the election. I have no reason to not believe him."

With Putin snickering in the chair next to him.

We are most definitely the baddies. This entire country has been living a lie for over 50 years. Things aren’t getting worse they’re getting more obvious. Just remember that

That's fine as long as you know whatever the Russians are saying the opposite is true.

You have to remember the Russian children's fables laud the characters in the tales who get what they want by tricking or deceiving the other characters.

Compare that to our Mother Goose tales which teach that we should admire the honest, hard working characters.

It's a totally different mindset and culture from ours.

Sergei Lavrov has lasted two decades as Russian foreign minister because he can lie so convincingly.

Make no mistake, this is Russian propaganda.

The problem is it's not false and our government is so corrupt the propaganda writes itself.

If the Russians landed on our shores tens of millions would be willing to join with them to get rid of our government. Our regime knows this damn well

There are obviously problems with the west but listening to Russia right now is like listening to the Soviets about America in 1955. There’s too much bullshite and self-serving propaganda mixed in to take it seriously

Just to be clear, are you talking about the Clinton Foundation or Burisma?
