You could seriously reword the anti-gay marriage screeds with the the word Black for the word gay and see how bigoted the arguments really are.

No, the reworded and repurposed would be bigoted, but not the original.

Being "Black" is not a choice.
Being "Gay" is a choice. Until there is absolute, definitive proof otherwise, I will always say gay is a choice. I've seen a guy with a girlfriend make out with a gay guy, because "he wondered what it would be like." His own damn words, not "I think I might be gay or at least bisexual", just "I always wondered what it would be like to make out with another man."

Thank you. This is very refreshing to hear. I realize you didn't choose to be gay but choosing to remain catholic and republican speaks very highly of your character.

You could have very easily just slipped into a disgruntled, hate filled, single issue voter.

Oh make no mistake, I'm definitely disgruntled and probably a bit hate filled...but it's with politicians in general and this administration in particular.

I would bet that most on this board support gay marriage but are just so tired of hearing about it and having it "in your face" all the time. I'd also bet most can't stand Toddy not because he is gay but rather he's a single issue one trick hack.

Exactly. It's going to happen, and most on the right realize it. Doesn't mean I should act like an arse about it, though.

On a side note, many, many of my friends who used to vote strictly democrat are really pissed off at this administration: so much focus on pandering for votes and shoveling down our throats the many reasons why this administration should not be held accountable for all the bullshite that's going on. It's an old, and very tiring act that has pushed many of my left leaning friends to consider republican candidates this fall because they are just tired of the bullshite and absolute raging incompetence from the White House. It's disgusting.

You're confusing acts that are choices, with facets of one's being that are not choices. The two are not the same. For example, I like oranges but I don't like apples. I can choose to eat an apple, but I cannot choose to like the taste. I can choose not to eat an orange, but I cannot choose to stop liking how they taste. An act is a choice, a preference is not.

Can you recount the exact moment in your life when you made the choice to be attracted to women and not men? Or was it something that was just inside of you? That's how it is for gay people. Just as you didn't choose your sexuality, we didn't choose ours, either.

Just because your friend made out with a guy under his own volition, doesn't make him gay, nor does it mean being gay is a choice...it just means at that moment in time he decided to act on an impulse to see what something was like.

States aren't being forced to recognize first cousin marriages.

That means "persecuting" Alabama fans is constitutional but "persecuting" same sex couples is bigotry. Makes no logical sense.
