The Europeans also lifted all their sanctions this morning.

Does anyone know if the sanctions relief is for sanctions imposed at the start of this conflict, or sanctions that predate this recent flair up?

If Iran is getting out from under pre-existing sanctions that is a real turd to polish.

My understanding is that they were discussing the end of all sanctions, which would flood the world market with Iranian oil. Similar to what Trump did when he was in office the first time. Last time, that led to the collapse of American exploration and drilling.

We lost the war. If that's the deal Trump will go down as the guy that lost to Iran. No other explanation, this means we lost the war

I’m also curious to see what happens with our waivers of Russian oil sanctions. Per the article below, a 30 day extension was granted May 18 so a renewal decision should be coming out. That won’t be in the Iranian MOU but certainly flows from this conflict and resolution.

My understanding is the waiver was limited to material in transit and not newly pumped material so presumably this is the end of any waiver on Russian OnG sanctions.

I'm not sure it would go the way the IRGC is thinking if they decide to get froggy again. The next time, Vahidi would be a primary target if they try to pull the same shite another time. At least that is what I hope. Also, I don't think Iran will be getting any of that money if they publicly start saber rattling and threatening the region again.

BREAKING: A source close to the IRGC says there is "growing satisfaction" inside the Revolutionary Guards over the deal, with IRGC Commander Ahmad Vahidi saying "first, we take the money" in reference to the $300 billion in reconstruction funds and $24 billion in frozen funds Iran is receiving, and then the IRGC takes over the Strait of Bab al-Mandeb after Hormuz, where it plans to "play exactly the same game."

The IRGC's internal assessment is that Iran preserved its ballistic missile program, full regional proxy network, complete control over Hormuz and ability to rebuild while extracting hundreds of billions of US dollars and recognition, with discussions already focused on "the day after the agreement, not the agreement itself."

If this thing is really over then yes I am giddy. We've lost lives, we've killed innocent school children and looks it'll cost half a trillion. So good on Trump for getting this done

Out of curiosity, why do we think that "The Hormuz Letter" has any credibility or isn't just making this up out of thin air?

Are they tied to a reputable news org in the ME?
