I certainly don’t claim to be an expert or know the truth, but I’m 100% sure of my recollection of those interviews
And the fact that Saddam used WMD against the Kurds. It was well reported and verified. Does anyone believe after the use of those weapons Saddam said "well that was awful, I'm going to get rid of these horrible weapons!"?

Time absolutely favors Iran. They know they only have to wait till midterms or the next presidential election to get a US government more amenable to them.
Trump needs to forcefully take the strait of Hormuz while also keeping the Iranian blockade in place.

Yes. China or Russia will prop them up. But it doesn’t really matter. The effectively control the strait of Hormuz. If Trump doesn’t prove to the world soon that he won’t allow Iran to hold such a vital choke point hostage then eventually shipping companies and the other gulf nations will start paying Iran to get their oil to the market.
We need to seize the islands in the strait. Set up air defenses on them and have a constant naval presence patrolling the strait. It’ll cost us. We’ll lose some men and maybe even a ship but it must be done.

Russia is a European nation and has been considered so for hundreds of years. Almost all of its population is west of the urals—in Europe.
