I don’t think Trump is ever really going to increase his footprint with a speech. I turned it off, but not because it was bad, only because it ceased to be novel/interesting and became standard Trump stuff.

But that mostly applies to anyone you’ve listened to 1000 times. I don’t think he’s picking up undecideds at 1115 EST on a Thursday anyway.

Very few people watch this kind of thing with the detail this board does. They'll see he honored the person killed and spoke for a long time right after getting shot. The sky isn't falling.

Trump’s speech was fine, but I wish it were more like what we thought we might see with calls for unity. He did that some and said the “threat to democracy” talk must stop. However, he did go a bit like a rally speech at times with his attacks. That’s just Trump, though. He’s going to go off script at times and he’s going to attack at times. He’s not coachable, so we have to live with it. I think it should have been a shorter speech, though.

Overall, it wasn’t bad. I don’t think he damaged himself, but he might not have won over as many people as he could have.

Overall it finally looks like we are getting a new movement in the GOP with much needed new voices/leadership (Vance, Vivek, etc). I am cautiously optimistic and I am trying to temper my excitement.

However, with that being said Pompeo, Haley, Gaetz, etc are not welcome in this new movement of the GOP. They should have never been allowed to take that stage, they represent everything that was wrong with the GOP. These people need to stay far away from any leadership position within Trumps inner circle.

If you have not won them over by now, you're not going to win them over. People like this are stuck on stupid. It doesn't take rocket surgery to know who is the correct choice.

People don't vote for speeches. People vote for leaders.

Joy Behar: “When something like this happens to you, like this assassination attempt, and you say something like ‘God was watching me,’ that is a very un-Christian thing to say because it’s very narcissistic.” This is the dumbest witch ever. She certainly doesn't know the Bible. She couldn't be a pimple on a true Christian's rear-end.

The Bible says God knows the number of hairs on our heads. Jesus is the great Shepherd who watches over his sheep. "The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore" Psalm 121:5-8. Trump was merely acknowledging the truth and grace of God.

Where is Barron????

I guess I found the answer. Apparently, the assassination attempt upset him so much that he doesn't want to have anything to do with the convention nor the campaign at this moment in time. Heard his mother is almost over protective of him.
