quote:

Former President Barack Obama used his eulogy at the funeral of Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) to call for an end to the Senate filibuster to pass Democrats’ new legislation on voting reform.

Obama said that Republicans had imitated Jim Crow-era restrictions on voting rights, which Lewis marched against, by passing state voter ID laws and other measures that conservatives argue prevent voter fraud.

He urged Congress to pass a new version of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

quote:

Obama said Democrats should go beyond that legislation and also enact laws making voter registration automatic, granting the vote to ex-convicts, and making Election Day a national holiday, among other changes.

“And if all this takes is ending the filibuster, another Jim Crow relic, in order to secure the God-given rights of every American, then that’s what we should do.”

I don't think this will have the impact they think it will. I would guess there are far more conservative voters that don't vote because of work or other responsibilities.

That was the most untrue & insulting speech he has ever made. Go point by point & he is lying about each. He is a facking despicable person.

There was this guy named Paul Ryan and, well, you probably know the rest of the story.

I don’t care which party it helps more but think encouraging voter turnout is generally always a positive even if it “hurts my team”

I know that’s not a realistic stance on a major national level

My main objection with this is that it further diminishes local elections. Presidential certainly effects a lot but for many voters getting engaged locally moves the needle more. Having presidential become a holiday seems to message that it’s far more important than turning out for your mayoral, city council, the millage on a ballot and your state senator

The average American isn't much smarter than a drooling retard. I don't want those people deciding who is President. Less people, not more, should be voting.

What he's after is not God given right's, he's after Democrat given advantages. Most ex-presidents become statesmen, Not Barrack Hussein. He has struggled with becoming the statesman and remained a snake.

No, it isn’t. To paraphrase the great Thomas Sowell, “If you don’t know what the candidates stand for, you shouldn’t vote.”

No it isn't when Quanisha with 10 kids from 10 different fathers collecting welfare as a living has a vote that counts the same as mine.

I do agree that this will further centralize power in Washington. People already don't understand how our government is supposed to work.
