I was just curious about how aggressive the natives are to outsiders

I've never been, but my mom has spent a few months there and she told me the animosity was almost palpable

So the natives who thrive greatly from tourism are hostile to tourist?

Apparently so. They way it was explained to me is that there is some significant racial tension

some islands are worse than others. Kauai, pretty awful. Big island and Oahu arent so bad....to nothing at all. The older islanders tend to be bad, as do the young teenager type punks. Just like anything else really.

I would let each major island have a vote for independence and if an island voted for it, then let that island go. And I mean really let them go and take care of themselves.

That's where she was. Maybe that skewed her view

I was just curious. What if this "separate" legal system is an attempt to pacify the natives and let them have some of their autonomy back (which from what I was told, is the basis for their hostility- the white folks came in and took their land and there is significant poverty amongst the natives because the entire economy is tourism-based...)

Someone please refresh my memory. I'm having a hard time remembering history. I thought Hawaii chose to become part of the US. I don't remember the war with Hawaii and us stealing their land after we conquered them.

there's hostility because the people who run the place...just like everywhere else, maybe even moreso...are fricking loaded rich. Most of the indigenous arent those people. frick, most of those people are the global corporate fatcats you would expect.

ANYWAY you slice it....this is segregation or even "reservation" type rules. Gonna be hilarious to see the MSM spin this bullshite as "progressive"

I believe we basically kicked out the queen and annexed Hawaii because of the American sugar cane farmers wanting more power. At least that is how I think it went. Anybody want to refresh my memory?

I don't accept this minority mindset that says," I want and demand your financial help because I'm a minority, but when it comes to the other areas of my life, don't tell me what to do!"
Isn't accepting someone's money an avenue to being controlled?

This is certainly against a shite load of really good laws, plus at least 2 or 3 constitutional amendments.

Statehood was voted on and overwhelmingly won with a 90+% tally.. I do recall though the number being disputed because of a low voter eligibility.. Not sure of the number but the main threat the islanders felt was not from white Americans but the growing Asian population of the time. At that time all political positions were appointees and the natives only appointed other natives to the important positions such as governorships of the different regions.

it really is going to be hilarious to hear Obama, Pelosi and Co., the MSM, the obamabots, and the rest of the progressive warriors argue FOR segregation.
