Not to mention satellite and recon would show boat activity and troop concentrationx and attempted deployments before they got out of the harbor
Would be a bad day for the PLA
CCP Missiles would be knocked down, all hell would break loose

Correct. They would be destroyed. Only CCP felators would argue otherwise.
The Chinese have a large Army and over the last few decades have made great strides in hardware upgrades, but they are still decades and decades behind the US in overall preparedness, training, and everything else.
They're the new kids on the block and they do not want a fight. Especially not now. They probably feel cornered, but they are not in a position to strike first.

Taiwan Relations Act of 1979 doesn’t say we would intervene in an invasion scenario, but it doesn’t say we won’t either

Correct are you suggesting it's nothing or nuclear war?
No.
A conventional war would be bad enough, but mix that with a very real cyber threat and you're talking about a pretty serious conflict.

Now name anyone that isn't suggesting it would be serious.

More likely of a border skirmish with India but the PLA would get royally fricked in the mountains fighting the Indians
China wants no part of a confrontation with Russia, they need oil
Xi is saber rattling to unite his country in the face of food shortages, tanking economy unemployment, Covid, rival CCP factions and flooding

I'm saying we wouldn't sink those ships. We'd absolutely go the sanction route, not kinetic action.

Xi has problems he doesn't need to frick with Taiwan.
Posted on 10/26/20 at 10:55 pm to upgrayedd
Imo opinion we simply cannot allow them to take Taiwan period.

Has China ever really invaded another country?
Kinda Vietnam?
They would never be able to pull it off against Taiwan

We aren’t talking about Japan in 1939 wrecking shite in the South Pacific on unarmed Islanders and the Brits
The US and Japan have been arming and training the Taiwanese for 40 years
Taiwan is a fortress, they don’t need much help

I don't know if you'd call it an invasion but the were definitely in Korea
Posted on 10/26/20 at 10:57 pm to upgrayedd
Invited into Korea with Russian backup.

They played at some war against Vietnam and it didn’t go so well

Agreed. This is posturing and there is little chance they will actually move against Taiwan, imo. They just aren't ready for what all that would entail.
It's kinda weird actually because these guys are supposed to be masters of the long-game. 5,000 year old country and all that. These days though they're all reactionary and on the ropes.
Considering what all they have done, they may just end up being dealt with. I think the US has completely neutralized China already. We kicked them out of our business and turned the tables on them in very short order.

A Taiwanese SSM battery taking out ships wasn't what was being argued. Some were proposing US subs taking out Chinese ships and amphibious forces. I just don't see us doing that.

We will if China builds up for a full scale invasion of Taiwan. The Chinese air force will die in very short order. There two pseudo carriers will die at the same time. They will have no way to move large numbers into Taiwan.

Their economy is poised for massive failure
And without western outlets for their crap they can’t stop it
Whole CCP economy is a massive Ponzi scheme built on incoming US Dollars
No Dollars, epic fail

Sure
My point is they don’t need us to sink anything, they got that shite on lock
Seriously, Taiwan is an island fortress, they pride themselves on that
