I didn't know that.
So are they specifically protesting murders of cops who were executed without due process in Dallas, or in Baton Rouge, or in NYC or some other locale, or all of the above?

Can you specify please?

Because i did not pick up on that angle at all

Tea was not an international symbol of freedom. The American Flag is. There could not be a more in appropriate symbol for these folks to disrespect than a flag representing their very right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

By that logic one could argue that it's disrespectful to mandate standing (thereby restricting freedom).
False. No more than it is disrespectful to mandate an NFL uniform be worn in a particular manner.

They are thugs. They're not sophisticated and aren't educated, that's why they believe shite without actually finding out if it's legitimate or not. They're a joke.

If they really want to protest, they should stop taking money with all those old racists white men's picture on it. That will show them!

Think of the Boston Tea Party as a protest against a very unpopular act/law/government practice. "No taxation without representation." They didn't dump tea overboard because they hated tea. They didn't do it to be disrespectful to the people who grew/harvested/brewed the tea. They exhausted all verbal and written political means to affect change and were finally driven to ACT (non violently). Many of the kneelers are protesting an unfair judicial system and "execution without due process". They feel driven to act in order to affect political change.(peacefully)

If you can see this as an issue that is sophisticated and nuanced, then maybe you can see the connection. If you're a 1 or 0 guy, probably not. By that logic one could argue that it's disrespectful to mandate standing (thereby restricting freedom).

Look, I really don't care if NFL players sit or kneel during the anthem.

I think the whole thing on both sides is really stupid.

But to compare what pampered millionaire athletes are doing to the Boston Tea Party demonstrates an almost unfathomable amount of ignorance on your part.

what a bunch of horseshite. The number of black people killed without justification by cops is miniscule. Most deadly confrontations with the police are because the police were called by other black people to handle some crime. Black people kill each other at like 7x the rate of any other ethnic group, they kill cops at around the same rate elevated rate. They commit 50% of the murders in the country, and most of the victims are black. Every time there is a cop shooting of a black person, after the local black people loot and burn down their own neighborhoods and towns you invariably find out that the poor victim is a 6'6" 300lber who just robbed a store and then tried to kill the cop with his own gun before getting shot, or was driving around high with a gun (with a kid in the back of the car) and didnt follow clear instructions from the cop, or was a convicted felon sex offender who had been threatening other black people with a gun and struggles with cops trying to get to the gun in his pocket etc, etc, etc, etc, etc

We will never make any progress until the left acknowledges that there is real oppression in this world and millions of people would trade places with the most oppressed American in an instant if it got them out of their current state.

I don't see that happening in general terms. In specific terms, there is truth to contention that money buys better legal representation. As Black Americans are disproportionately less affluent, conviction rates may be higher and sentences longer. That is not any more an element of isolated race than is the statistically far higher violent crime rate among American Black males. Poverty, education and a stable family environment are specific correlates.

LBJ oversaw the uprooting of all three.

Not to mention that the cops who shot those black men were all cleared by the justice dept and were ruled to have acted in the proper way and we're just in what they did. Non compliance or resisting orders/arrest from police is the real problem. Where does that disrespect of authority come from? Well, you're taught by your parents at a young age, or are supposed to be, and alot of this has to do with the breakdown of the family unit, where men are not present and are horrible fathers in alot of cases. Are there cases where cops go to far? Sure. They are few and far between and don't happen to just blacks. It's also stupid to imply institutional racism in our government because of a few bad apples. The whole thing is stupid.

I know hands up dont shoot and all but I expect to be "murdered" by police if I forcibly rob a convenience store, attack the responding police officer in his car, go for his gun and then charge at him while he fires non lethal shots to try to abate my charge.... But im a white guy perhaps i just expect these consequences because i dont have black privilege??

Let's not pretend that the police didn't bring at least a little of this on themselves.

How many people have they shot when they showed up and kicked the doors in at the wrong address?

How many have they robbed blind with civil asset forfeiture?

How many people have called the cops to report a crime in progress only to be shot dead by said cops?

Cops are a real problem in this country. The mistake made was making all about race when race has very little to do with it.

Every citizen of this country is provided free public education. It is on the individual to get educated to better themselves, not anybody else. Once you graduate high school, if you have good enough grades, you can be accepted into a university, which blacks are accepted at a higher rate than any other race in the usa with the same test scores and grades...that's a fact backed up by stats provided by university admission depts across the nation. It is on the individual to work and bust their arse to pay college or take out a student loan to pay for it. If you want it bad enough, you can get it innthis country. So i dont want to hear the disadvantages bs. It goes without saying that people who are educated make more money than someone who isnt, it is on the individual to WANT to be educated and give themselves a better chance at having a more successful life.

OTOH, if a sophisticated and highly educated Black Physician driving a Porsche Cayenne gets pulled over twice in 8 months, not for speeding, not for a traffic violation, but literally just to check her license and registration to see if she stole the car she is driving, what should she think?

Is that a joke?

You know that guy who started his argument with the false premise and then wondered why his argument lost the debate ? Yeah, that's you. Recheck your premise and try again.

That post in this NFL thread is more than a tad ironic.

Look, I'm a personal responsibility fanatic. I believe personal responsibility is foundational to success. I'm just saying this is not an entirely one-sided coin.

Ok, did that actually happen or are you just spewing unsubstantiated bullshite again? If it did happen, who gives a shite ? He would be let go without a problem and it would take about 3 minutes for the cops to validate. You're way too sensitive. What about a white guy getting pulled over for driving through a black neighborhood known for selling dope? Would that be wrong? If I did get pulled over in that situation I would completely understand. I'm sure that hapens all the time too and you know what? I'm pretty damn sure alot of those drivers got pulled over with dope on them and got arrested. You're an idiot just like the rest of the people that think like you.

Dude you're an idiot. It is solely on the individual to make the most out of their situation and better themselves. There are plenty of black people that have went to underperforming schools that went on to college and have great lives now. Is that because of them being an anomaly, or is it that maybe they put in the effort because they actually wanted it that bad? I believe it's because they wanted it more. You are a legit dumbass, and my proof is straight out of your dumbass posts. I'm done.

Well, golly gee GTG, if it happens all the time . . . why are you saying "if".

How cam you be "informed" without making a legitimate effort to understand the opposing view. That was the point. Had nothing th do with privilege. Is the camera man being disrespectful because he's not at attention? Why does he get a pass, because he's working? Who else gets a pass/privilege? The guy in the parking lot? If I'm at home watching on tv or listening on the radio, do I have to stand? Does standing even mean I truly respect the flag and the sacrifice of servicemen? Just because you wear a wedding ring doesn't guarantee you won't cheat.

You claim the people doing this are uneducated and ignorant. Where's your proof? Stats?

Blacks have gone from being considered less than human..to being glorified and paid millions...hell one was elected President twice.

At some point, you reach the ceiling of human nature where there is no more progress to be made except black people deciding to start bettering themselves. Kneeling for the anthem, disrespecting the flag, and insulting people who voted for our current President is doing nothing to help them.
