I don't think the prevailing sentiment is that Floyd is a hero. I'm sure some are saying that but I don't think that's some widely held belief.
Police brutality is the core issue, not how some shining star was snuffed out. She's finding a way to be contrarian on this issue.

The proper word might be martyr (ie. all the murals). And honestly, I don't care about the drug and criminal history of the guy. His killing was sinister and planned, so this is maybe one of my least favorite rants by Candace. "too soon"
