Newsmax is saying that DirecTV might be dropping them starting at midnight tonight. DirecTV claims Newsmax is asking for fees they don't wanna pay, but others are saying Newsmax is being censored the way OAN was. (DirecTV dropped OAN a while back).

DirecTV is 70% owned by AT&T and 30% owned by TPG (a hedge fund). Records show TPG's political contributions are 90% for Democrats.

By the way, DirecTV carries far-left "Vice News" which is a complete ratings disaster. And not only do they carry Vice, but they pay Vice fees despite the terrible ratings. Fees they are refusing to pay Newsmax.

That's CNN for the last 20 years.

People still have direct TV?

I thought I was the last one to have it about 1.5 years ago

DirecTV will eventually merge with Dish.

Dropped Direct TV years ago and went with DISH. Now this news will only help DISH.

I dropped satellite and cable altogether at the beginning of 2021. It's been extremely liberating, well beyond what I imagined it would be. I pay $4.99/mo for OAN on Roku for my actual news tv station, and get the rest of my news from the fine folks here on tPT.

I was watching both Newsmax and OAN when I finally cancelled Faux News for good after the two-on-one Biden and Chrissy Wallace vs. Trump "debate", but I stopped watching Newsmax not long after that when they totally caved to the pressure put on them to stop talking about election fraud. They caved, and now a couple years later they're about to be thrown in the fire of cancellation anyway.

OAN has never backed down.

Guess I'll have to make some type of move as well:( I've been getting $500 visa card offers from Dish to return to them, so may have to take 'em up on that. Biggest thing I would miss would be the DVR if I had to leave satellite/cable. I realize youtube and some of the other streaming packages have them now in the cloud, so, dunno what I'll do. Infuriating though that they keep removing conservative stations while keeping liberal trash on that doesn't get nearly as many viewers.

Just called and complained to Clay Higgins' office and emailed our two senators. Also called Directv to voice my displeasure, and the guy I spoke with tried to upsell me some kind of annual warranty service, LOL. I said, "Mister, I'm not going to have your service more than another week or two as I'm currently looking at my other options". He went on to blabber about the coverage being able to be used for any other service that I would go to so I simply hung up the phone at that time.

It's the older generation like my parents, the 65 and up crowd. But yes, they are going to be non existent within 5 years.
