A former Navy SEAL and Trump administration official announced Thursday he was entering Georgia's 2022 Senate race. Latham Saddler, a University of Georgia graduate who was Director of Intelligence Programs on the National Security Council for the Trump White House, is the second prominent Republican candidate to declare in recent days. He joins Cobb businessman Kelvin King in vying to unseat Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock next year.

The Director of Intelligence Programs on the National Security Council makes me nervous.

I don’t know him but those alphabet guys are trying to destroy America.

Same here . Crenshawish (whether justified or not that’s the feel I get)

Agree on this guy. Too Crenshawish for me. I’m waiting to see what Herschel and what Doug Collins decides to do. I hope one runs for Senate and the other runs for Governor. Both have my vote for whatever they would run for.

I think Herschel would mop the floor with Warnock.

This word keeps popping up in reference to Government agencies but it doesn't mean what it's supposed to mean.

Absolutely, he will be my first pick. I’ll take off the farm common sense and high integrity any day.

Absolutely zero scandal of Herschel has come out in 40 years,( other than standard college recruiting stuff ) , but not a smidge of bad press since.

Saddler ?

He has also been a White House fellow in the White House Office of Economic Initiatives. His campaign site says in that role he worked on the First Step Act criminal justice reform legislation signed into law by former President Donald Trump in 2018.

Might be a fine candidate, but probably should think about retaking one of the traditional conservative congressional seats, like the 6th District. Or hold off and go after Ossoff's Senate seat.

This is sorta Doug Collins all over again Putting too many of your eggs in the wrong basket.

Unless the General Assembly significantly changes its boundaries in the upcoming redistricting effort, CD-6 will continue to not be the cakewalk that Newt/Isakson had 15-25 years ago.

The whole "Walker lives in TX" thing isn't a big issue at the moment right? From a legal residency perspective mostly.
