You are a lost puppy if you believe a communist is going to "attack" the cartels that harm America.
The communist will "manage" the issue. The communist might even poll Americans to see if they agree with how the mexican communist is managing the issue.

People like you hurt my brain. Its progress! And its not some communist country like others. Its Mexico and we share borders. We are in NO danger of war w Mexico. We are at war with cartels. Them having better seal type teams is an absolute home run for us. Less we have to risk. Let them use theirs against cartels
The cartels are embedded in their military. Also, the cartels have so much cash, they routinely hire former SOF guys to train them. There are rumors of former top top top tier US SOF now are part of the cartels. And, there are lots of guys that went through the Mexican military, into their SOF, got trained here in the US at Ft. Bragg and other locations, and then left the military and went full time cartel.
I think there is one way to get all the cartels and the Mexican government united - put US forces on the ground in Mexico, either leading, training, or operating independently.
