CBS News

quote:

Two U.S. Navy SEALs and two Marines have been charged in the strangulation death of an Army Green Beret while the service members were stationed in the African country of Mali last year, the Navy said on Thursday. Charging documents describe a situation in which some of the nation's most elite military personnel - including two members of the famed SEAL Team Six - broke into a Green Beret's bedroom while he was sleeping, bound him with duct tape and put him into a choke hold.

When this first came to light, I said "Money, bitches, and booze". Probably the easiest prediction ever. SSG Melgar strangled to death by another SOF member as retaliation for reporting their indiscretions with hookers and theft of confidential purpose funds. About as low as it gets.

SEAL Team Six has become a little too famous. They could do with a huge dose of anonymity for the next decade.

Been watching this for a while. There is another SEAL facing charges in a separate matter for killing a captive ISIS member with a knife.

If the long form article on The Intercept is to be believed (The Crimes of SEAL Team 6), there are many large problems with the Navy SEALs.

I've read that. I think I responded to your original thread about it last year actually. Nothing in that article surprised me at all unfortunately.

The Daily Beast reported November 12 that Melgar was killed after he discovered the SEALs were pocketing money from a fund used to pay informants. Three sources told the news site that the SEALs offered money to Melgar and he declined.

Many details about the case remain a mystery and military officials have kept quiet about Melgar’s death. Here’s what you need to know:

Funny how CBS doesn't include any of the reports of illicit behavior at all and says "motivations are unknown". Hah. It's widely known what happened, but I guess CBS is suddenly unwilling to speculate.

The charges do not allege a specific motive. But the counts filed against the four men range from felony murder to involuntary manslaughter. They also have been charged with hazing.
CBS leads the reader to think hazing, leaving out the pocketing of funds allegations. Some frickery is going on; too bad the MSM can't be trusted combined with the military trying to be a family and protect their own. The loss of facts makes it worse, makes one think what really happened beyond stealing from the petty cash drawer.

This story from years ago blew my mind. What goes on in GTMO (while living/stationed there) stays in GTMO but wtf...

I read an article about this guy - it was more than killing the wounded isis soldier who was 15-16 yrs old. What I took from that article was that the seal and probably other seals have been in combat too long. Theyre broken people and are acting psychopathic.

Don’t rat on your brothers...but the response isn’t even remotely deserved. Send them all to prison for life.

Moron, what are you 12 years old or a gang member. These guys weren't his brothers and were supposedly committing felonies.

Yeah engage in a coverup and also be a felon. Your common sense and/or morality sucks
