Trump’s Blonde Companion, 34, Steals Oval Office Spotlight

LINK

This article is a disgusting example of journalism by insinuation.

Instead of reporting Natalie Harp’s role in a straightforward way, it repeatedly emphasizes her age, blond hair, devotion to Trump, and proximity to him, while using loaded phrases such as “blonde companion,” “fawns over,” “smiling furiously,” and “thirst aide.”

It then highlights lurid comparisons to horror film characters and includes personal details in a way clearly designed to suggest something romantic or sexual without having the evidence or the courage to make that accusation directly.

The writer can always retreat behind the defense that no affair was explicitly alleged, but the implication is unmistakable. This is tabloid character assassination posing as political journalism.

There was a time when presidential administrations were routinely criticized for failing to hire, promote, and trust enough women in important positions.

Yet when Trump employs numerous women and places them close to the center of power, their presence is treated as suspicious, personal, or somehow nefarious.

Instead of evaluating Harp on her responsibilities, competence, or conduct, this article reduces her to her appearance, her age, and speculation about her relationship with an older male employer.

That is not only unfair to Trump; it is profoundly demeaning to the woman involved. A female aide should be able to work closely with a president without journalists turning her into a sexualized caricature simply because they dislike the administration she serves.

I’m sure the National Organization for Women will come out soon and condemn this article. Oh wait…..these women work for Trump! Never mind, these type of women aren’t worthy of being defended by NOW.

Journalists want to make us believe that the supporting structure for politicians in DC is run by troglodytes when in reality it’s run by charismatic intelligent young adults.

It’s not really unfair to Trump. I mean, you can like him as a politician but come the heck on…he’s well known for being a bit of slimy womanizer well before he even stepped foot on the stage for The Apprentice much less the campaign stage.

It is unfortunate for Harp though.

That's what jealous people do. You can be smart and attractive at the same time. If I had to choose between two women with the same qualifications, I would choose the more attractive one. Why not?

People wrap so much of their identity into politics these days that it is necessary for some conservatives to act like Trump is something he's not even though it makes no difference at all in his role within the political sphere.
