You’re focused on the wrong thing here. I would be, too, if I were you.
NASCAR is lying to us. That picture isn’t the rope that was on Bubba’s door. I don’t know their complete motivation. But it’s obvious from the photos that the picture NASCAR released isn’t of the same knot. And it’s probably not even the same rope material.
Imagine being that embarrassed that you kept lying.

I’ve seen the pictures and that looks like the same rope but closer.
