It would have to be bases built that are fully enclosed with the ability to be self sufficient. At most it would be military use or perhaps mining operations where people go to work for a few months then come back to earth and supplies get delivered via smaller, AI driven rockets.
I could see where AI rockets are built to transport supplies to such outposts and say bring back rare metals and minerals that we need.
I wonder if AI will eventually lead to deep space exploration as it becomes more advanced. You could send ships staffed by AI computers and robots capable of piloting and repairing the ship and go far into space as they don’t need food and water like humans. If we could figure out a way to travel at incredibly high speeds it opens more doors, maybe even speeds the human body can’t handle.
