With Young from Zachary getting props as well:

This is how government is supposed to work, I'm encouraged by our Louisiana peeps.
Now they just need to craft a balanced budget.

Perhaps most critical to clearing the blockades were Biden and McCarthy’s five negotiators who came to the discussions armed with policy gravitas and empowered by their principals. Particularly comforting to Republicans was the presence of presidential counselor Steve Ricchetti, who speaks on behalf of Biden like no one else, and Shalanda Young, now the director of the Office and Management and Budget, who cut her teeth as a beloved senior congressional aide managing the complex annual appropriations process.
Young and Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina, one of McCarthy’s negotiators, grew so close that they checked in each morning by phone as they did their respective day care drop-offs. Meanwhile, she and the other GOP negotiator, Rep. Garret Graves, who represents the south central part of Louisiana where Young hails from, ribbed each other over who had the better gumbo recipe and squeezed in debt limit talks during a White House celebration for the national champion Louisiana State University women’s basketball team.
The five negotiators — Graves, McHenry, Ricchetti, Young and legislative affairs director Louisa Terrell — met daily in a stately office on the first floor of the Capitol, under frescoes painted by the 19th century muralist Constantino Brumidi. Inside, they would home in with seriousness on priorities and red lines to figure out how they could reach a deal.

If we have so many Louisiana peeps negotiating this, where is the funding for our new gold plated new bridge over the Mississippi or guarantees to drill baby drill in the Gulf of Mexico, and split even more millions of Outer continental shelf royalties to fund coastal projects and levee protection.

Yeah maybe…. This is also more ammo for those who see that there is a uniparty.

Lol, imagine praising this deal thinking you did something for your constituents. So out of touch it's not even funny

There’s more to this shitty deal than the eyes can see. More gasoline on a fire is not the answer unless it gets us to hyperinflation, ends the FED, and adds another major accomplishment to this sad administration.

Hyperinflation? Where?
Does a 100% annual increase in homeowners qualify?
How about a 350% increase in flood?
Maybe a 25% increase in auto is not really inflation? How about that 30-50% increase in food costs?
Inflation is racist anyway do what difference does it make anyway?

The constituents were served by not having the US default on its debts. You mouth breathers don't seem to understand that the debt limit is NOT where to draw the line.
The way to avoid the debt limit fight is to stop having to borrow more and more money every year by having a balanced budget. The last time we had a balanced budget was with a Democrat president and a Republican speaker. Maybe it can happen again. THAT'S where the fight is supposed to be. The House can stop funding the gov't to pressure the executive to sign. You MUST continue to honor your debt obligations.

I see that, but I have confidence you can come around.

Ask U.S. Rep. Garret Graves what — other than keeping intact savings and retirements — did Louisiana get out of the deal?
Graves doesn’t hesitate: Changes to the environmental permitting process that will speed along infrastructure projects, a new bridge over the Mississippi River, and the preservation of federal revenues the state receives from offshore oil and gas drilling.
...
Tucked into the act's 99 pages of budget reductions and work requirements for safety-net programs are the most sweeping changes ever for the 53-year-old National Environmental Policy Act.
...
For Louisiana, the takeaway is that the complex wording also exempts reductions to the revenues Louisiana shares with federal government from offshore drilling — about $156 million that earlier this year went into the state treasury and to treasuries in 19 parishes. It also means Louisiana will no longer have to wait on coastal-erosion projects while wind and tides eat up marshland.
Louisiana gems hidden in complex wording of bill to end debt limit crisis

There wasn't going to be a default. The only must pay obligation from the US government is the interest payment on US debt. The American people are still submitting their tax obligations to the Federal government so there would be plenty of money to fund Social Security, Medicare and other entitlement programs, what would have happened if the R's hadn't caved is the Uniparty would have been forced to set down and actually figure out where to begin serious reductions in out of control federal spending.

You don't know that, it's too risky. Too many people seem to just want to blow shite up.
But the time to "figure out where to begin serious reductions in out of control federal spending" is during actual budget negotiations, not debt limit adjustments to pay for things that have already been approved by Congress.

So far I've been positively impressed as well.
I'll keep voting for him.
