My $.02 worth on the NFL controversy: As a paid entertainer, of which I am (occasionally), I learned a valuable lesson a LONG time ago. An entertainer is just that, an entertainer. The audience watches and listens to you solely to be entertained. Professional football players are no different than paid musicians. These football players are being paid a salary to entertain the public, the same as a paid musician. When a musician (entertainer) is on the stage (field) the number 1 rule is to keep your personal politics off the stage. Half of your audience is not going to agree with your opinion, anyway. They pay to have you entertain them only. When you alienate half of your paying audience because you confuse your entertainment stage time with having your own political soapbox on which to stand, you will lose the money half of your previous fans would have paid you to have you entertain them. With all their business, marketing, advertising, player scouts, and coaching decisions, the NFL, advertisers, and the league commissioner are blissfully unaware of this simple concept. It's not new. It's business 101 and the NFL and team owners are discovering this the hard way.

Paid entertainers be it LeBron or George Clooney need to understand they are little more than the organ grinders monkey, the music plays and they dance, no one cares what the monkey thinks about.

OMG musicians interject their personal political beliefs ALL THE TIME in their concerts. Where have you been the past year? Remember Pink Floyd? If you are so sensitive to what they do, don't go to the damn game or show (which I personally think is week minded and silly). It's stupid to keep bitching about it. IN the end, The NFL will not suffer that much. It won't come to near the harm that MLB inflicted upon itself in the 1990's with the player's strike.

Hmm...that is not true, and you know it. Some musicians do, and they pay the price for it. Do you think Kathy Griffin would agree with you?

@ Toddy calling it weak minded and silly to ignore views you don't agree with. Sure, let's get some level-headed advice from the biggest drama queen single issue voter on this board..

That was their fault for marketing themselves to rednecks.

I can't think of many more that have been harmed to a great extent.

This whole NFL thing is amusing to me. I couldn't care less if they all go bankrupt. I don't watch the NFL so this has no bearing on me at all. I do think it's funny that the "boycotters" are giving up something they love to make a point. No one GAF about their point.

When I get a massage, I don't want to hear you protest.

When I get a sandwich, I don't want to hear you protest.

When I watch a game, I don't want to hear you protest.

Fans are the paying customers. Customers pay for products/services. If customers want to pay for politics, they would watch cnn or Fox News.

You have a point. Still don't think it's going to sustain any lasting damage. Americans have very short memories.

you gave up your credibility to vote for a woman that said marriage is between a man and a woman.

I guess you dont GAF about credibility when you have no self respect though, do you?
