Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says the United States will suspend its obligations under a landmark nuclear treaty in 60 days in response to Russia’s alleged violation of the pact.
Pompeo said Tuesday after NATO allies supported Washington’s contention that Russia has violated the terms of the 1987 Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty: “We either bury our head in the sand or we take common sense action” over Russia’s contravention of the pact.

Bolton put this in motion as soon as he came into the admin but nato allies have fought it because of domestic politics.. this is a way for them to sell it to their audiences that they did everything they could but Russia is a bad actor, Everyone has known Russia was violating the agreement for a decade

There's more to this that they're not telling us but I suspect Trump will let more be known about it soon given the recent space weapon Russia put into orbit over the weekend.
