Men who are not loyal to their wives and family are not good leaders.
My dad dissolved his 1st business when his partner got divorced because of infidelity.
He said he could not trust the livelihood of our family with a man that was not loyal to his own family.
He was mostly concerned about the risk that his business partner was willing to take. A man who is willing to risk his family is not trustworthy man.

Family value DO matter. They are the basic building blocks for civilization. It's the most basic way that humans organize and socialize properly. There is never a time where they "don't " matter. Without them, we have societal chaos.
As for those who fall short of their own "sexual ethic" -it's always good to walk your talk. To not do so makes somebody a hypocrite. But seeing how each and every one of us is a hypocrite to one extent or the other AND each and every one of us fails to meet our own sexual ethic to one extent or another-your "gotcha" moment falls predictably flat under closer inspection.
To a liberal, the hypocrisy is the greatest sin. The Conservative realizes the far greater sin is to fail to behave ethically. Which you and I and every other human fail to do daily. Which is why this "gotcha" doesn't work with Conservatives. We acknowledge that ALL humans are hypocrites. The Progressive likes to pretend this is new information every time some Christian is caught buggering his secretary, as if that somehow invalidates family values. No, it just confirms what we already know-people like sex and people are hypocrites. ALL people.
