This goes back to the abject panic in their eyes on Jan. 6. They thought we'd finally had enough, and were exacting our pound of flesh.
Think about the recently-signed anti-lynching bill. There hasn't been a racially-motivated 'lynching' of a black person by an angry white mob since the early 80s, IIRC. Murder is already illegal, and the reality of no black folks murdered by white people belies their position.
Even the NAACP admits that lynching doesn't have a racial component by definition:

The moral of the story: Don't try to get away with things that would make a furious mob string you up from the closest tree and the need for the anti-lynching bill vanishes.

Yep. I think it was Bush Sr who once said that if the American people knew what they had done, every one of them would be strung up to lamp posts by morning.

It's really pretty unbelievable. To think that nobody on Capitol Hill apparently had any idea that the military was dropping troopers into a baseball stadium in their own city. And then imagine for the climate in the Capitol to be such that once they saw the flyover, they actually thought the military was coming after them. I mean, they had to have known that was the military flying over. Civilian planes and military planes look nothing alike.
Did they think it was the Russians? Only if they're fricking idiots. They knew that was the American military and they panicked and ran.
Should tell people all they need to know.

It's actually a good thing that most of you won't actually get out and do anything.
I can't imagine how many votes some of you would lose if you were knocking on doors or making phone calls.

This is exactly right. On it's face, this is what happened. It should be a pretty big deal to folks, but I think there's some sort of weird psychological thing at play here where the implications of what is going on are so outrageous people refuse to see it for what it clearly is.
The government that sits in DC is a hostile beligerent in the eyes of our own military.

People have been telling folks (en masse) for the last few years what's going on. Problem is, nobody wants to hear it until it is absolutely undeniable. It's a shock to their system and they know they've been asleep. Acknowledging the truth would make people feel both pissed off and ashamed for having been so complacent and apathetic for so long. So they deny it.
Eventually though it will become undeniable. And when it does there will be absolute hell to pay for what they have done.
