Husband of a sitting EBR metro council member….
Looks like the free $700k “loan” to buy their new home was only the tip of the corruption iceberg. (I posted about this last July).
Laurie just needs to resign at this point. This is ridiculous. She had to know; no way all these shenanigans went on under her nose.
People using our tax dollars as their personal slush fund are the absolute worst.

Most likely nothing will happen and absolutely no effective changes will be made
Rinse

I think we should all withhold paying until they get this under control

If Laurie’s husband can’t be trusted with tax payer dollars, then how can she be trusted? If family members were getting jobs, etc. this wasn’t all that secret to her.
And if she really was truly unaware, then you have to ask whether you want someone who can’t spot glaring corruption in public office.
Every large company I worked for, the compliance office always hit home the need to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. I think a public servant needs to be held to the same standard.
I mean: perhaps their family members really are seasoned experts at closing orphan oil wells and he just so happened to be a commissioner for the Louisiana orphan well program. Just a coincidence! But probably not.

Disagree. They must be held to a much higher standard

Absolutely, if for no other reason than they’re stealing taxpayer money. This shite is out of control
