No one seems interested in discussing an apparent rural/urban split in the minority vote. Oh well.

Country people vote differently than city people regardless of skin color. I kind of thought this was assumed.

My rural county is a bit more than 70% White
Meaningless, really.

What percentage of those whites are Republicans? Democrats? Independents?

In rural Texas?

If you spent a full day observing from a blind, you MIGHT spot one rural White Texan under 80yo who votes Democrat.

But you can't ignore the tone in which he delivered some of his achievements. The guy literally began his campaign by trashing Mexicans and rarely tried to make inroads with African Americans. We can sit here and debate whether he said "They're rapists" vs "Their rapists". But the mere fact that the debate even exists says it all.

I felt it was obvious if you listened to more than the punchline regarding that, listened to the whole video that he was saying there are bad people among illegal immigrants. I don’t disagree with much of what you said, Trump’s rhetoric turned people off but he did accomplish a lot of what he said he’d do. He didn’t get the wall done true.

He stated over and over he was going to be great for minorities and he was, even said he’d get cjr done and he did. His overall results are what was important to his voters. Calling out the GOP was what got him in the limelight, that’s what got conservatives fired up and he shot up in the polls during primaries.

Rural youth whites are a very small group....it is the middle age white women that are a huge problem.

This suggests to me that the GOP is FINALLY making inroads into the minority vote ... in rural areas.
