That is the rule of thumb and the mind-set of every career-minded Officer and NCO. If you disagree with this mind-set and proceed with your own career at odds with this mind-set, then, God go with you, my son.

bullshite, I know an LT pilot that was reprimanded for DUI, punished to not drive a vehicle or fly for a year on base/@$$$, recovered stopped drinking and went on to be a fine officer (Maj now)...
I've unfortunately had to assist no less than 15 Es out and documented no less than hundreds of times...
SOME ARE CHIEF MASTER SERGEANTS right now. Believe it or not it helps the best of the best when they get called on their unethical (technically illegal when it comes to work shortcuts) behavior.
Exactly! When I was in the Navy, a CAPTAIN pediatrician got arrested for solicitation of a MALE undercover police officer. The doctor was also male.
Everyone on duty that night, got called onto the Skipper's carpet and ORDERED to not speak about the call they took or the information they had.
This was during Clinton's 1st term and "Don't ask, don't tell" had just been implemented.
I worked in the doc's clinic and we all suspected he was light in the loafers. He was given desk duty for a few weeks and went right back to work......like nothing happened.
Now, do I care if he likes a dick in his mouth on occasion? Nope, just as long as he keeps that shite to his self and is professional on the job. The thing about it that bothered me, was the coverup and the fact that if it were an enlisted man, he would have been drummed out of the Navy.

Yes. As a retired Air Force member I was always taught you can support anyone you want politically but you never used the uniform as a platform to express said support.
That POS Vindman sat there as smug as can be in his service dress uniform and basically bad mouthed the CINC. I have seen his type many of times in the military, a back-stabbing low life who will do and say anything as long as it benefits his own agenda.
Also he looks like a bag of potatoes in his service dress, he could greatly benefit from more dedication to his Physical fitness instead of the time he dedicates to bad-mouthing our great POTUS!

The officer corps takes care of itself, and there's definitely a two-tier justice system. For minor infractions I've seen officers get hit harder than an NCO would, but for major stuff it typically goes the other way.
