This solves a few problems

1) it reduces Medicaid costs as people lose eligibility due to income increases

2) it improves economy as labor force participation rises

Such a magical, simple-minded response. You are so sure there are ample unfilled jobs in rural America.

Go back to your day to day simplistic job.

$25-30/hr small excavator operators needed in our area. Problem is, owners won’t pay in cash…go figure.

The best estimates show that over 64% of Medicaid recipients already have full or part time jobs. Most of these jobs don’t come with health benefits.

Some Medicaid recipients are caring for elderly parents, or disabled family members. Unpaid caregiving is work, even if it is not reflected in a paycheck.

The group I know the most about are adults with chronic and severe mental illnesses. At least 10% have a serious or severe mental illness (conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe major depression that substantially impair functioning.

Not all Medicaid recipients are lazy, free loaders.
