I just don’t get it. God was talking to Abram, and wasn’t talking about every person on earth who claims descent biologically or spiritually through Abram/Abraham. God couldn’t have been talking about the nation-state of Israel because he destroyed Israel himself using the Assyrians as punishment for their disloyalty and idolatry. Best case is God was referring to Israel before he decided to destroy it.

Correct. The current nation state of Israel has about as much to do with the Israel referred to in the Bible as I do with the NBA.

You have your interpretation, aka opinion, of the subject and its many, many intricacies, while others have theirs. And needless to say there are countless others in between. Who’s “right” remains to be seen.

Think about all the times God punished Israel and Judah for rejecting Him. During the time of the judges, the golden calf, the Assyrian conquest and exile, the Babylonian conquest and exile, the Greek conquest and then the Roman conquest. Had the Jews not rejected Him, God would have kept his promise to Abraham.
God punishes Israel for rejecting him. Why should we support Israel today if God doesn’t?

It’s very simple, they’re our only relevant ally period. England, France, Germany are all gone, fallen under radical Muslim rule. You want us to ally with Russia, ok let’s make a deal but that’s gonna be a tough sell for the sheep who live in their feels. Forget the silly biblical nonsense, israel is our only strategic ally of significance left on earth. Why do you think there’s been this overhyped push to turn conservatives against them? You think it’s organic? Anyone who does is a fool.

I don’t disagree with you, and don’t think I insinuated anything along those lines. I do, however, believe the biblical aspect is equally as important for many people as what you described. And I think many, many folks probably have the same or very similar position.

I didn’t mean to insinuate that you did, my bad. The point is regardless of the moral aspects of the situation as a matter of practicality this push to decouple from Israel is insanity. It’s another trick box the easily swayed people have blindly jumped into.
