I watched it and read his summary. How do otherwise rational, discerning adults believe that to be true?

That’s the fascination I have with this. If a Nigerian scammer told you to keep sending money and the payoff is right around the corner yet you never get the payoff, I trust eventually you’d catch on and stop sending him money.

But why does this perpetual hope and belief in these outlandish plans continue on? That’s the draw for me.

I think that something is happening. What it is? I don’t know. Most people can feel that something about 2021 just doesn’t sit right. For some, it’s the election results, others it was the media’s reaction to 1/6 vs the BLM riots, others it was covid restrictions, mask mandates, or bribes to get vaccines. Some see one-sided censorship of social media, or critical race theory, while others see weird deaths, explosions, lone-wolf murders, and just generally strange news events that seemingly disappear overnight. People see government, social activists, and large private businesses coordinating on a level of closeness that seems unusual and unprecedented.

It just feels abundantly clear that what is being put forth as the “news” in this country doesn’t add up. It feels like the internet is rapidly shrinking, yet is more unavoidable and penetrates more and deeper into our lives than ever. It seems like alternative means of gathering information are disappearing or being absorbed into the mainstream worldview one by one. It feels like real world penalties for disagreeing with ideas that seem completely outlandish is becoming increasingly threatening.

As the penalties for “wrong think” become harsher and more likely to be enforced, and the number of seemingly legitimate outlets through which to receive information become fewer and fewer, those feeling the need for an alternative take are forced to pursue sketchier and sketchier sources. Sometimes, these sources are useful at pointing out information others simply are not paying attention to. Sometimes they’re fringe for a reason, reporting sloppily gathered information driven by confirmation bias and wishful thinking.

The reality is that we have entered a post-credibility world, a post-truth society. There is no verifying what is real with any certainty. Truth has become thruthiness, what FEELS true. That’s not a solid foundation for a civilization.

When you have millions of people interested in something you will get many different beliefs and ideas and theories. Kind of like science right?

Did I buy into the DC not a state stuff…not really…honestly because I just wasn’t super informed on all of it…does it mean my core belief is changed? No. Are all black people bad because of riots etc? No. What an absurd thing to be believe right?

Frick I hope that's wrong. But McAfee is mental. Still, just because you're mental, doesn't mean you don't have good info and intel and they are waiting to kill you should they think it necessary. I don't know much but I even worry for my own safety.
