This is a brilliant article that all of you should read. When you're done, you'll understand why:
...despite being the wrong answer, socialized medicine gets support from people.
The debate between a "free market system" and a "nationalized/socialized system" is the wrong one.
It will also shine a rarely seen light into how our current system of monopoly, oligopoly, and government intervention operates in business. We call it capitalism and the free market, but it really isn't.

Progressives call it that, for some reason we buy it.
Healthcare is the *MOST* government regulated field in America. It is in no way, shape, or form a free market.

That article describes Willis-Knighton in way too much detail. The Elrod Empire.

I don’t need to read the article, but we essentially have socialized medicine here.
It comes in the form of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance backed by the government. The premiums we pay are taxes. All three of those medical insurance providers are so tightly woven and dependent on each other’s rates that it is scary. Then you have sub plans under Medicaid and Medicare that are like private insurance.
So essentially instead of government bureaucrats determining your health care you have pencil pushers at various companies determining your health care at what cost to their bottom line.

True, until it is treated as a commodity instead of an inherent right, it will remain so.

Exactly! Medicare and Medicaid are essentially like government backed student loans. The government is not into price negotiations because its not their money they are spending. Free money allows companies to raise prices with little to no backlash. This intern drives the prices up for individuals on private healthcare. That’s why there is no way for Obamacare to work or lower pricing.
Health care for all will be the exact same thing. Their is no incentive to lower pricing and cost will continue to rise along with the tax to cover it.

Medical procedures are one of the few things we "purchase" without asking how much it costs first.
