The Louisiana Senate on Thursday approved a new voting map that would eliminate one of the state’s two majority-Black, Democratic-leaning congressional districts with only a few minor changes to a version approved by a legislative committee the day before.
The Senate voted 27-10, along party lines, to approve the new map, which is broadly similar to one lawmakers passed in 2022.
Senate Bill 121, sponsored by Sen. Jay Morris, R-West Monroe, now heads to the House, which could further alter it.

This is going to give us a 5-1 map if the House doesn’t amend. It would have been ridiculously easy to create a 6-0 map without any gerrymandering at all. Personally, I won’t be upset with a 5-1 map, but you know that if the tables were turned, the Democrats would adopt a 6-0 blue map in a heartbeat.
We continue to make concessions and attempt to be civil while they have no intention of ever doing so.

Seems like we oughta just find one guy that's 62% white, 33% black, and like 5% hispanic and just let him decide for all of us.
